As a professional oral storyteller, Skywalker knows the power of storytelling to inform, to transform, to bridge differences and to create community. In addition to live storytelling, she has two podcast shows of storytelling, and created three minute storytelling programs on Youtube. The understanding of the influence of storytelling led her to create the Legacy Story Project, to assist the woman of color in articulating and sharing the value of her life, work, and contributions.
Conceived in Reno and born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Skywalker Payne lived a gypsy's life. Raised in an Air Force family, her early adult years were spent living in the major cities of the USA pursuing the performing arts. She earned a degree in oral storytelling and has performed before audiences from New York City to Homer, Alaska where she now lives and works with her husband, Brian Payne, creator of Zinc Comics.
